Who are today's heroes?

I was taken back, this week as we in the military lost a lot of our brothers in arms in yet another senseless shooting overseas.  I wondered how many people thought of them as heroes.  Yes in my book they are and will be heroes for ever.  They went into harms way and tried to help a nation.  I also wondered who else was my heroes.  Dictionary.com says a hero is a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired by his brave deeds and noble qualities.  The military member both Retired, active duty, reservist, guard and merchant all are my heroes. You noticed I did not say man as dictonary .com suggested.  They are men and women!  They wake up everyday to answer the call, and go into harms way to protect and defend our rights. But there is also another kind of hero that I would like to mention here.  They are the day to day unsung heroes.  The single parents who face the challenges everyday of raising kids single handedly and doing a great job. Working to support thse kids and they get little or no credit.  The military wife who has to balence the house hold, sometimes a carreer and deal with everything on little or no support except from some friends and family.  There are heroes amoung us everyday that we don't even consider.  Today I would like to salute the unsung heroes to never complain and do a fantastic job.  The rewards are few but you are rich in so many ways.
