I really enjoyed the party, reunion etc. Hearing tales from the crypt so to speak. Seeing folks I had not seen in 30 years, meeting some new folks and saying to myself wow you look great even if I did not have the balls to do that years ago. I was amazed at how many people thought I graduated in 78 or 79. One of the only drawbacks I saw is I wish I would have stayed longer but I wanted to see my family in Fredericksburg. I tell you the thing that I did not like was the progress (so to speak) of the area. I could not believe that Triangle is gone. I remember as a kid my grandfather would take me to Stephens Drug store and get me a soda, it was owned by Frank Stevens and it was on US1. I remember the billiard room and I would watch my grandfather shoot pool. I remember watching the Garfield Indians take the field at the high school right off Cardinal drive. I must of set in traffic a while between Leesyvania State Park and Dumfries. I was amazed that Dumfries had not changed much but remembered it was a lot better in the past then now. I did not see much activity in Triangle plaza. Want to say the bar/restaurant on the corner was the Tiki room, but can’t remember. A lot of times I could not remember the name of the joint when it was opened. But was shocked to go around the few turns only to see Triangle had been plowed over. I stopped by the cemetery and it was so quite you could hear a pin drop. I was thinking how many of my friends who have fathers and mothers there, has to be at least 100. I was glad to see they had finally marked the Abel cemetery in the woods as that property of the Quantico National Cemetery was their farm. The name Abel was as popular in Triangle as Dent was in Cherry Hill. I was bummed out to find out the Pilot House was gone. Bridget did tell me that a few weeks ago but it was still hard to believe. All in all it was a great day. I guess I left too early as I would have loved to see some of the other folks that showed up later. I got to see my family which is always a plus and I got to spend some time with some great people. Thanks Rick for not hitting me in the chest! Until Next time!
