Dale City Woodbridge in the 70s

I have seen a lot of comments on face book lately about what I think is a really cool page called Dale City & Woodbridge of the seventies.  I have to laugh at not only some of the people that comment on it but things that have been stored in my fondest memories that have come out by some of the post.  Who thought one page would bring so many people and comments together.  Thanks Bill for keeping this going.  I have laughed, cried and reminisced with people I have not literally talked to in years.  I think some of my best times in Woodbridge for me were the bowling alley; I ate many a meals there thanks to Betty Cole for feeding me in my youth!  LOL.  Ginos, Astoria’s, Chesapeake Bay seafood house,  and I was so excited to hear that Manny’s moon pizza is still in existence but in a different town. I feel a road trip coming. Forgot they had a drive in, even thought my mom reminded me when it was built. How about the cars we had back then?  I had a 70 Monte Carlo Coup I got from Bob Poston. I use to race down us1, and lost a few times, but won a few times,  I also had a 53 Plymouth Sedan.  Had it painted in shop class for around 8 bucks! It was primer Gray and a kid in art class put on the back the “ gray ghost” !   I think about the people I worked with, folks from school, and girls I had the hots for but was too afraid to say anything.  I am amazed at no matter if you were from Dale City, Woodbridge, went to school at Gar-field, or Woodbridge you were and are part of something.  This was a place that was simply awesome to live and work in.  Funny how a town can survive Hurricane Agnes but cannot seem to survive with all the illegal’s that live there now.  My nephew from Spotsylvania calls it hood bridge now.  It really has gone downhill.  I actually forgot it had a Rustler’s steak house, Drug fair, strip joint, and the Mexican restaurant near Kenny’s shoes.  Who could forget some of the folks who have passed before us way before their time that made such in impact to us and the town we lived in. Mikey Shockley , Kelly Roach, Jeff Gibbs, Craig Van Schoick, who could forget Craig, his neck was the size of my legs, he was such a great guy,  He was probably one of the best wrestlers Gar-field ever produced.  (Sorry Jay! You were in the top 5).  Just to name a few.  Anyway,  I guess the things I forget were not forgotten, just placed in a special place in my brain or in my heart! I always loved the saying “If you remember the 70s, you never lived it!” Until next time!!

  1. I agree that this page has opened up a whole drawer in my memory banks that had been closed for a long time and I am enjoying very much the trip down memory lane.

Things I thought I had forgotten completely are coming to the fore again. I definitely have to revisit Joe's Place and find the new Moon's location. Road trips!!!
