I am not one to talk religion but there is something that eats my shorts! One thing I can’t stand is frivolous lawsuits and people complaining over silly crap but I am here to tell you I am sick to death of the wasted time people have because they want to stir up things. I ranted and raved about the protestors of funerals of military personnel and now it will be about a certain group that wants the new street sign taken down in Red Hook New York. Seems America lost seven firefighters from Engine 202 and Ladder 101 on 9/11 and a portion of the street was named “Seven in Heaven Way” Looks like people are protesting because of the word Heaven in the name of the street. Give me a frickin break. Can’t some people find something else to gripe about than a frickin street sign? We need to stop being offended about every little thing that annoys us. Let’s make things simple. If you’re offended, don’t look at the sign, if you’re offended because someone wanted to honor heroes, get over it. Firefighters, police, EMTs, Nurses, Doctors, Military folks, don’t care if you’re an atheist when they are trying to save you or take care of you. One of the quotes was “it is improper for a city to endorse the view that heaven exsist” What the hell is wrong with people, I am not turning in to a bible thumper but let’s not forget what these brave men did during 9/11. A street sign is the least they can get. 9/11 was a terrible event for this country, maybe this is helping with a little closer for some, but to argue over a street sign is beyond me. If the community and the families choose to remember these folks this way so be it. We have honors for heroes in every city, state, and community. We have holidays for heroes, so get over it and move on. Big question is “Is it appropriate? In my opinion your damn right it is! Until next time!
