Why celebrate?

Why do we have to have a special month or week for certain groups to celebrate but only get one day to celebrate being an American? I just don’t get it.  We celebrate Black History Month, Asian Pacific Month, Native American Month, Latin American Month but we do not have a I am a American and don’t need to celebrate month.  We celebrate St Patty’s day where on that day we are all Irish.  We celebrate cinco de mayo, Chinese New Year, Secretaries day, save the tatas day, almost every week we are celebrating something.  How about a day that we celebrate having a job, supporting your family, paying all your bills, etc.  Don’t get me wrong, having a party or celebrating something is great but every week there seems to be something.  January we celebrate New Year’s, Martin Luther King’s birthday, There is also National Bath, Blood Donor, Braille, Hobby, Hot Tea, Oatmeal and Soup Month,  February comes around and we have American Heart, National Cherry, Children’s Dental Health, Grapefruit, Weddings (Which I don’t understand Most people get married in the spring or summer).  March comes around and I am ready to start celebrating it getting a little warmer but nooooooo we have Irish American month,  Women’s history month, Red Cross, social workers, etc.  April  we celebrate stress and sexual assault awareness, National Humor, etc, you see where I am going with this?  We have become a society who

 A. Likes a reason to celebrate, and B.  Will do it in a moment’s notice.   I could write more for every month, or week for that matter and there is something for everyday of the year.  But all this celebrating I have to stop and take a nap! Or get a drink.   Until next time!
